Nicky has been a fully registered psychologist since 2004.
She has a special interest in working with people of faith who seek support for mental health and relationship issues such as depression, anxiety, stress, (including work and ministry stress), relationship problems, past trauma, grief and loss, life transitions, sexuality and gender issues.
Nicky also works as a consultant to churches in mental health education for those working in pastoral care. (She does this with two other Christian psychologists as an outfit called STEM (www.stemconsulting.com.au).
She also enjoys providing supervision and/or coaching for those in pastoral care roles as well as professional counselling roles.
Her counselling training includes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Systemic Family Therapy, Bowen Systems theory as well as Solution Focussed approaches. She also is embarking on some training in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Schema Therapy. Her interest in couples work is also informed by research and publications by John Gottman et al. as well as Emotion Focussed work with couples.
Nicky has had experience working with children, youth, families, adults and couples. She has previously done a lot of work in the school setting as a school psychologist.
Please note, Nicky now only sees adults, over the age of 18.
